Last week the GWH construction team celebrated a ‘topping out’ event with representatives from project lead Evolve Housing and former land owner Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) as well as Deputy Lord Mayor of Newcastle Declan Clausen.

We began on-site works in July 2019 with the ground floor slab and vertical structure underway by September. Utilising our vertically integrated companies within the Hunter Construction Group, we’ve completed a structural floor every two weeks.
With internal fitout now underway it’s expected the public will get its first glimpse of the unique brickwork façade in March 2020 ahead of the expected completion by mid 2020.

The development, at 4 Merewether Street Newcastle will feature 30 residential apartments dedicated for affordable rental housing. There will be 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartment options, available to eligible applicants on low-to-moderate incomes, and there will also be four apartments set aside for Specialist Disability Accommodation.
Evolve Housing CEO Lyall Gorman said that he was proud to be delivering much-needed affordable housing in the Newcastle CBD.

The properties will be advertised via online real estate listing websites and echo reality closer to completion, expected to be in mid-2020.
