January 2019 has seen the team tick all the boxes on the construction program and kick some big goals; it was a short, yet big month on site with a great amount of progress, that's for sure.
In December our team worked hard to ensure we were ready to fire come January, and after returning on 7th, it was full steam ahead.
January has been heavily focused on the pouring of the first suspended slab and setting up the preparation for the second. This saw the start of the site team working in cycles, pouring one slab, one level up at a time until all 20 are complete.
Each cycle runs to a tight schedule and includes an extensive period of prep work before pouring the slab. This period of prep varies but will often see the installation of pre-cast concrete panels, installation of formwork to create a working deck, installation of steel reo, PT Services and in-slab services from various trades. Once all the pieces are laid the team from Hunter Readymixed Concrete supplies concrete for the slab, which is then tensioned in stages depending on concrete strength (Mpa).
The elements and sequence of each cycle will vary as different levels have different requirements, however the process continues as a cycle, one level at a time.
The team and subcontractors when returning in January immediately commenced final preparation works for the pouring of the basement 2 slab, this was then poured and completed mid-January. Check-out the timelapse we captured of the process above!
Following the completion of the basement 2 slab, the cycle kicked back in and prep began for the basement 1 slab which is scheduled for completion in early February.
February will be kicking off with the basement 2 slab, closely followed by the installation of precast-panels and the craning in of the basement level fire stairs. All in the one day, the schedule will see GWH’s Highpoint team and the Hunter Group’s Hunter Install, Hunter Structural Steel and Hunter Precast all working cohesively and in collaboration; the GWH Way, building possibilities.
