Mercure Newcastle Airport is a 4-star rated hotel comprised of 95 rooms which is currently under construction. The hotel is located on Williamtown Drive adjacent to expanding Newcastle Airport.
Hotel rooms will be split into 64 double rooms, 24 twin rooms, 2 family rooms and 5 disabled access rooms. Gated guest parking will be provided for 69 vehicles, and bus parking will be available.
Hotel facilities will include ground floor reception, conference facilities, a bar and restaurant, and a gymnasium. The hotel will offer dedicated conference facilities for up to 200 delegates.
GWH Build is acting as the developer of the project and is responsible for design, construction and development (and will operate the Mercure franchise).
GWH Build assembled a group of key local investors to develop the hotel property via the Newcastle Airport Unit Trust. GWH Build will operate the Mercure franchise with the support of operator Accor.
Building constructed of structural steel frame, precast concrete floor and wall panels, aluminium windows and doors, and Colourbond steel roof.
Building includes ground floor, first, second and third floors plus fully landscaped gardens and external concrete hardstand, driveways and parking. The company is also responsible for the full fitout of the hotel including all furniture, fixtures, fittings and signage to deliver a fully operational hotel and conference facility.
A number of GWH group companies will provide inputs for the build - pre-cast concrete panels (Hunter Precast), aggregates and road base (Hunter Quarries), ready-mix concrete (Hunter Readymix Concrete), structural steel (Hunter Structural Steel), commercial windows (Frontline Aluminium) and access equipment (Rapid Access).
